Dato’ Professor Dr Noor Inayah Yaakub

Independent Non-Executive Director

Dato’ Professor Dr. Noor Inayah Yaakub (D.S.P.N.) was appointed to the Board of Amanah Raya Berhad on 1 April 2019 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and is a Member of the Audit and Review Company Committee, Board Risk and Integrity Management Committee, Shariah Advisory and Supervisory Council of Amanah Raya Berhad, as well as the Board of Trustees of Yayasan AmanahRaya. Additionally, she holds the position of Chairman at AmanahRaya Trustees Berhad.

Dato’ Professor Dr. Noor Inayah assumed the role of President and Vice-Chancellor of Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur on 1 July 2021. Prior to this, she was the Chief Executive Officer / Rector of BaitulMal Professional College, a wholly-owned entity of Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan. She also served as a Professor (Comparative Law & Shariah) and was the Director of the Centre for Corporate Planning & Leadership at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

With vast experience in academic fields, Dato’ Professor Dr. Noor Inayah’s areas of interest encompass Islamic Law, Islamic finance, Takaful & Insurance Law, Equity & Trust Law, and Business Law and Ethics. Her research has resulted in various impactful papers and articles, including policy papers on waqf economic development at the international level.

Dato’ Professor Dr. Noor Inayah holds a double degree of a Bachelor of Shariah Law (Hons) and a Bachelor of Law (Hons) Degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia. She obtained her LLM (Master of Comparative Civil & Banking Law) from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, and she received a PhD in Law from the Faculty of Law, University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She is a recognized expert in waqf in Malaysia and at the international level.

In 2009, she received the 5th QS-Apple-Asia Pacific Professional Leaders in Education Expert Certificate. During the same year, she also obtained the Advanced Certificate in Technology Transfer and Project Management from the University of Oxford. In 2012, she was awarded the United Nations Professional Certificate for Selected Higher Learning Corporate Planning Leaders for University Research and Teaching Components. Subsequently, in 2019, she received the Advanced Certificate for Leaders in Education, Innovation, and Strategy for the future of Higher Education from the School of Executive Education, Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.

Dato’ Professor Dr. Noor Inayah was honored with the Best Business Law Professor award by the Golden Globe Tigers Award Malaysia 2019, an association of the world federation of education and academic institutions. In the same year, she received the prestigious Tokoh Maal Hijrah Wilayah Persekutuan award in the scholar category. Additionally, she was ranked Number 22 in the Top 300 Most Influential Women for Islamic Finance by the UK Cambridge Financial Association for two consecutive years, in 2019 and 2020.

Currently, she serves on the Board of International Islamic College of Technology Penang, owned by the State Religious Council.
